Bad Feminist by Roxane Gay

------------

Guiding Questions:

Here are some questions to consider while you read Bad Feminist:

Discuss the essays you were most able to relate to.  Which essays did you not agree with and why? Do you see any value in reading essays you don’t agree with?

Gay states she is a bad feminist because she likes pink and rap music.  Do you agree that a person can be a good or bad feminist?  What would a person need to do to be classified as each or is there some other way of thinking about feminism?

Why do you think Gay shy’s away from being labelled a feminist?  What is your take on the label?

How did you find the experience of reading essays for book club?  Did you find the book cohesive or disjointed?  How did this affect your reading?

What will you take with you from reading of Bad Feminist?  Will you continue to consider the issues that were explored?

If you want to take it a step further and really engage with the content, use these questions as journal prompts! You can also just write about whatever comments or thoughts you have as you read :)
